METRIC Tormentera 2

A little late to the ball. The album came out in the end of 2023.

I became a fan of METRIC when there first album  World underground came out in 2004. Canadian Toronto group founded by Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw in 1998 , moved to NYC in search of liked minded artist. The group became hole with drummer Joules Scott Key and bassist Joshua Winstead in 2002.

They joined the Alternative/ Rock style like their peers, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and LCD Soundsystem. But unlike them they resisted major record labels to be able to do there own thing.

With Haines soft vocals and their songwriting and original sound METRIC is one of a kind.

Tormentera 2 is an album that doesn't need more than one listening to appreciate and enjoy the melodies. First song Detour Up, already got me moving my head and feet to the beat. The lineup of each song fits just right to bring you to the different spaces your musical emotions should go. Dancing, to melancholic love songs, each song is a hit of its own. My personal favorites are Who would you be for me and Descendants.

Metric continues to impress with this album to be their best yet. I'm hooked.
